It was hard to take your eyes off them" The Evening Post, Wellington, March 15 2002 Back in Cuba, Vocal Baobab continue to be in demand for events and media appearances, including their regular gigs - currently at the Hotel Inglaterra, Parque Central every Thursday and Sunday night.
LATEST!!!! Vocal Baobab performed on 12 and 13 August at the 14th Marin Village Festival on the island of Martinique as part of a Cuban delegation with a strong vocal theme, alongside Vocal Sampling, Desanden and DanzAbierta. After their first gig they were declared on tv "the explosion of the Festival" and many press interviews resulted, as well as interest in their return for the island'sprestigious Jazz Festival in December (as yet unconfirmed)
Meanwhile. Vocal Baobab are now CONFIRMED for the Cuba Si Festival in Glasgow on Thursday 30 October 2003 , at 8pm at the Arches. Tickets are already on sale at £13 (£11 concessions), and the brochure should be out by mid Sept. A workshop follows on 31 October at 10.30am also at the Arches. Plans are ongoing for a short tour of the UK (and other European possibilities) thereafter, into early November.
