Vocal Baobab



Number of people travelling:
Between seven and twelve, including singers, musicians, technicians and dancers.

Performance formats include:
» one hour length based on Vocal Baobab repertoire
» thirty - fifty minute length selected from repertoire (ie 'support' or opener)
» full evening length (ie two sets of forty minutes - one hour each) from repertoire

Optional programmes and outreach formats include:
» Cuban percussion workshops on Congas, Batá drums, China Box and Claves.
» Cuban popular dance workshops: Son, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa and Merengue
» Afro-Cuban/Yoruban chant/voice workshops
» Afro-Cuban folkloric dance workshops: rumba and orishas
» Lecture demonstrations on Afro Cuban Culture
» Performances of traditional Cuban music tailor-made for foyers, fairs, restaurant/cabaret venues, open-air and other special events

Optional show with additional dancers:
Two couples of professional dancers from the National Folklore Company

Costs:
Dependent on the programmes. Both parties should reach an agreement.

Contracts: 1 - Obligations of Contracting party:

The contracting party will deliver the following documentation to the company
representing Vocal Baobab:

i) Financial status of the Company interested in contracting the group.

ii) General Information about the Company interested in contracting the group.

The purchaser will also pay the following expenses:

b) Round trip air transportation from Havana (Cuba) to the country where the performances will take place for the number of people agreed upon.

b) Health Insurance.

c) Freight Instruments.

d) Fully comprehensive insurance for the instruments to a total value of $3,000.00 USD,
covering all the transportation and manipulation during the total length of the tour.

e) Immigration taxes in Cuba and in the countries visited, plus any other taxes due in the
countries visited.

f) Comfortable ground transportation of the artists and the instruments in the country
where the performances take place.

g) Accommodation, which should be in hotels of a category not less than 3 stars with
breakfast included.

h) Per diem allowance of $50.00 USD to each member of the group, or at an agreed
rate relative to the cost of living in that country.

i) Guarantee the marketing and publicity coverage of the tour with print, press and media (radio and television) where possible, hand programmes in the case of theatre performances and any other media exploitation that is available. This should be done in
consultation with Vocal Baobab's publicity expert.


Contracts: 2 - Preliminary contract requirements:

Letter of proposal minimum of 30 days prior to signing the contract. On signing the
contract, 30% of the total performance fees will be deposited at:

Banco Financiero Internacional
Havana City. Cuba

in the name of:

Group Vocal Baobab, Empresa Igñacio Pineiro, Instituto de la Música

Note: This proposal of contract is open for negotiation in its entirety between both parties, subject to mutual agreement.

NB. Within the context of a Tour, items listed within Contracts 1 & 2 may be shared/covered across the Project as a whole, in which case a proportion of the costs will be reflected in the fees charged.

Minimum Group (core)

7/8 performers
Music format: 7 voices with percussion and keyboard
Instruments with the group: pair congas + stand
set batá drums + stand (no cymbals)
various handheld percussion (+ cowbell)
Yamaha SY 85 keyboard (American voltage)

n.b. Vocal Baobab may NOT always tour with a sound technician on the minimum format

Minimum Requirements

7 microphones for the voices + stands, ideally:
3/4 radio/wireless mics + stands, with 4/3 standard mics + stands
OR
2 radio/wireless mics + stands, with 5 standard mics + stands
(if radio/wireless mics n/a 7 good quality voice mics + stands)


4 microphones with boom stands for the drums - congas and batá

6 monitors/foldback speakers

1 sound desk min 12 channels, 15 -24 pref: ie 11 mic channels, 1 DI for the piano, and stereo input for mini-disc or CD player

1 sound effects box*

1 amp/speaker for the piano*

1 CD player (for sound effects CD)
